Micah Calling for Justice

This statue of the prophet Micah stands outside the moot court auditorium at Georgetown University.

Below it a plaque quotes Micah’s words:

He has showed you, O man what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God.

    Amazing. How soon we forget.

  2. Josh Pothen says:

I’m curious: Does the statue actually have a face, and if so, what’s the expression on it?

What a beautiful reminder. Last night at our Anglican church, it came up that in actuality, there are a few basic things God wants us to do, and we tend to add on extra commands. Micah reminds me there’s also much we tend to subtract.

The face looks rather wistfully into the distance against the wind.

I wish I could have gotten a closer image of the face. I’m short, Micah was tall, and I didn’t want to get in trouble with school security.
